Numb

Can’t seem to sleep early these days. Always end up sleeping REAL early like, 2,3am. Slept at 3 yesterday and woke at 2+ if I remember correctly. Packed up my stuff, took lunch and off I go for my tooth surgery.

It was really nice of the hospital to actually call yesterday and today, to remind me that I’ve got an operation with them. Quality service. Didn’t take too long before my name was called. Didn’t even have time to finish reading one report on the Straits. My vital signs were taken by one of the staff nurse, and she did a very brief introduction of what was going to happen.

Happen to recognize the SpO2 reader. A device used to read the percentage of oxygen in the blood. My reading was a full 100%. Was rather surprised that my diastolic blood pressure was only 50. Still wondering what’s the cause of it. Was I nervous? Even so, it can’t be that bad.

And soon after, I was told to take off my slippers and lie on the op bed. Doc applied some numbing cream on the gums, tongue and lips. And then she injected the LA at 2 different sites. Could feel the needle going in and out of the gum, but couldn’t really feel the pain. And it took 5mins for the effect to take place, and it started.

Started off with an incision, and then some really ‘interesting’ drilling. When she picked up this tool and switched it on, for a moment I thought: “that sounds like a drill.” And true enough, she started drilling the tooth, cracking them into pieces. Once done, the fragments were pried out one by one. Absolutely zero pain. It was one helluva experience.

Changed my dressing thrice at the hospital. I think it would be quite traumatic for one to have his/her tooth removed through surgery because the blood that they’re gonna see is quite a bit. My lips and the left side of my face are still numb right now, and it has been almost 6hours. Bet I wouldn't feel a thing if anyone were to slap me right now.

Met up with Hoon at Raffles Place. Was talking on the train and she told me ‘bout how inspired she is to be a lawyer. Well, I guess it’s good that she was able to have talks with ‘real-life’ lawyers who were actually able to tell her that being a lawyer is like being anyone else. I guess, that’s something real difficult for the rest of us to put across to her. Anyway, all the best to her. =) and hey, Hoon! You weren’t late. I was expecting you to come at around 6.30pm. Really.

Went to the washroom to change the dressing again. There was this little guy, who was staring at me as I took the bloody gauze out, and rinsed my mouth with the tap water, and spitted out bloody water. I think it kinda scared him somehow, and he was rooted to the spot, with his hands in the sink with no water flowing out of the tap.

Had dinner at food court. Thank goodness I could still taste the food, well, at least with the right side of the tongue. The other side was still numb from the cream. Went walking around after dinner, and PE finally got her ear pierced. We somehow managed to convince her. And the response from ZX was really funny. It didn’t seem THAT painful to me, but, apparently it was for her. But owells, at least she’s got it done. Gotta take good care of it, and use the alcohol often. If not, it’ll get infected and pus will start to ooze. Quite a good experience to see someone getting her ears pierced. Haha. Things girls do for the sake of beauty. Tsk tsk tsk.

Had Vikings again at Cartel. This time, Bud was there. haha. No one seemed to believe that we could actually finish that entire bowl. But in the end, we always do. No matter what. Haha. Talked about funny stuff, the funny smell coming from somewhere, Ber’s kiddo signature and the house keys, blabla. Great fun. Time well spent. Haha.

And thank God that he’s mum is alright. Thank you.

Tomorrow’s the church fair. Hope that I don’t get fever or anything. And pray that it’ll churn out sufficient participation and earnings for the church’s upgrade. Hope mum doesn’t nag again. Oops.

2 more days to the 13th. 13th May.
